Review – Planes

Planes Refuses to Take Off

In the new Disney film Planes(said as From the World of Cars), Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook) just
wants to race. But let’s face it, crop dusters aren't noted for their speed and ability to win airborne speed contests.

But Dusty has a dream and goes after it but trying to qualify for the race around the world with some of the fastest total package airplanes on the planet.

To compete with these planes, he enlists the help of a military hero. The Skipper (Stacy Keach)hasn't flown in quite some time, but he has regaled the airfield with stories of when he served. The missions, the experience, he’s the perfect coach for Dusty.

Together with Chug (Brad Garrett) and Dottie (Teri Hatcher)at his side Dusty will try to do the unthinkable become a champion racer. Can he live his dream?

Planes has a safe feel throughout the 90 minute excursion. Everything feels like a warmed over version of Cars. There are no chances taken to make this film standout.

The voices are just average as they dot the landscape in the air. The music is as sterile as any animated film I’ve seen recently and none of the characters, even Dusty, are memorable. Those kids who like the Cars films will probably find an enjoyable flight with Planes. But Parents who thought Cars was a fun ride for them too will find that aspect of things missing from planes. There is nothing here for them.

Planes refuses to take off for the whole family. Instead it is grounded to be boarded by just the youngest kids.
