What if the Oscars were more like the Grammys?

The Grammys features memorable experiences via live performances each and every year. Some of them we remember, pairings of iconic superstars from different eras, and some of them we try to forget – last night’s Nicki Minaj performance.

But let’s imagine if there were more performances on the Oscar telecast and shorter speeches.

Meryl Streep in a scene from a slapstick comedy alongside Jim Carrey.

Jack Nicholson being “Jack” next to Helen Mirren.

The long overdue pairing of Morgan Freeman and Betty White in a suspense thriller with sound from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross performed LIVE.

Letting the costume designers, set decorators, sound mixers and all the rest of Hollywood’s best at their craft, recreate onstage, what they create onscreen.

Ok, so I’m making a ridiculous point here – but it would be nice to see more of the stars at the top of their game, even if only in clip form..

It’s the movies, and their performances that are memorable – much like it’s the MUSIC that is remembered on the Grammys and less about who really won the awards.

The Academy doesn’t need to go goofy with this, but I’d love to see more of the medium I love. (And while they are at it – only 2 songs were nominated – they should be performed!)

Ok, so I'm being a bit goofy...or am I?
